Coverage Map: Find the Best Cellular Service in Your Area
Coverage Map is a free iPhone app developed by CoverageMap LLC. It is a crowd-sourced map of cellular networks in the United States. The app allows users to compare coverage, data speeds, and performance of major carriers such as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Dish, and UScellular.
With Coverage Map, users can easily search for the best carrier in their area using the new Coverage Search tool. Simply enter a state, county, city, or ZIP code to instantly see a ranking of the best carriers in that area. The app also provides information on good, great, and poor coverage areas between carriers, as well as median download and upload speeds from real users.
In addition to coverage search, Coverage Map offers a Speed Map feature that shows data speeds on each carrier. Users can tap on any hexagon for more details, including download speeds, upload speeds, and latency. Advanced filters allow users to compare speeds between carriers based on LTE/5G, download speeds, upload speeds, and their own speed tests.
The Signal Strength Map feature displays where each carrier has great, good, or poor coverage, using data from the FCC. Users can also compare coverage among different carriers using the Carrier Coverage maps.
Coverage Map also provides a Speed Test tab where users can manage and view their speed tests. The app aggregates speed tests from different devices and speed testing apps, allowing users to sort tests by LTE/5G, download speed, or upload speed.
Additionally, Coverage Map includes a leaderboard feature where users can earn points for contributing speed tests. Users can compete with friends, on the national level, and on the state level, with new leaderboard winners every month.
